Recent research suggests that our busy schedules and lifestyle changes can take a toll on our bedroom life, thereby causing bad bedroom behavior and poor sleeping habits. All these factors ultimately affect our sex life. In order to boost a stagnant sex life, here are a few bedroom habits to avoid.
You have a messy bedroom
A crowded and cluttered bedroom will constantly distract and cause stress. Looking at heaps of laundry and paperwork will remind you of all the things to be done. This will only affect your moods, thereby making you want to avoid sex. Clean all the clutter, get some rest and make the bedroom a peaceful love lair to enjoy sex.
You Go to Bed at Separate Times
Sometimes couples have no choice but to have opposite schedules, but if you routinely hit the sack at different times, you might miss out on chances to cuddle and be intimate. If you find yourself hitting the hay at different times, try carving out a half hour each day or night when you can lay in bed together and enjoy each other’s company.
Your kids sleep in the same bed
No one can resist cuddle time and sometimes it can be hard to turn the kids away, especially when it is late at night and you all need sleep. However, the truth is that you will all get better rest if you each sleep in your own beds (not to mention, your chances for intimacy with your partner will increase tenfold).
You have a television in the bedroom
Late night talk shows might get you laughing, but they will also distract you and keep you from connecting with your partner. Make the bedroom a television-free zone and spend your precious alone time with your partner talking, cuddling, and of course, being intimate!
You eat in bed
Finding crumbs and sticky bits in the bed can be a complete turn off. Keep your bed a food free zone to boost your sex life.
You work in bed
Keep your smart phone and your laptop relegated to your home office or a room other in your bedroom. You don’t want to associate your bedroom with work stress, and you certainly don’t want to waste private time with your partner with fretting over the week’s deadlines.
You Haven’t Updated Your Nightgowns in Ages
You don’t have to wear a slinky teddy to bed every night, but if you’re wearing worn-out maternity shirts or stained sweats, you aren’t going to look or feel sexy. Increase your bedroom confidence by updating your nightwear to outfits that look and feel comfortable, feminine, and flirty.
You Hit Snooze Over and Over Again
Hitting the snooze button might feel good in the moment, but you won’t fall back into deep rest in those few quiet moments. Take advantage of your early a.m. hours by sharing a cup of coffee with your spouse or hitting the shower together. Make the most of your alone time whenever you can!
You’re Not Living in the Moment
If you are in the bedroom, but your mind is in the office — or the kitchen, or the kids’ rooms — then you aren’t in the moment and you aren’t going to be able to appreciate spending time with your partner. Stay in the moment and focus on what really matters: You can deal with tomorrow’s stress tomorrow, tonight is about sex, love, and sleep!
