Police drug raids on gang nets millions

Police have seized millions of dollars worth of drugs and cash and arrested 38 Headhunter gang members in an operation across the upper North Island.

Officers from the Organised and Financial Crime Agency New Zealand (OFCANZ) and Northland District this morning arrested 13 Headhunter associates and prospects after executing a number of search warrants in and around Whangarei. The police investigation had run throughout 2014.

Detective Inspector Bruce Good from OFCANZ said a Mercedes Benz car stopped on the Auckland motorway in November, being driven by two teenaged Headhunter gang associates, had been carrying methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $2.5 million.
